About Us

Compass Seminars is New Zealand’s leading professional development training provider for professionals who work with Children, Young People and Families. Compass delivers more training, in more New Zealand cities, than anyone else in the industry. Read more below.

About Compass Seminars New Zealand

The management team at Compass are all experienced past clinicians from a range of child and adolescent agency settings so you know that our training programme always deals with contemporary issues that are relevant to the workforce in this industry.

Compass Seminars is New Zealand's leading and most dynamic provider of day-long, professional development training for professionals working with children and young people. No one else offers as many seminars for the child and youth sector, in as many places throughout the country as Compass.

We coordinate and host up to 4 seminars a year in each of the following areas: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu, Wellington, Tasman, Canterbury, Otago and Southland. We will also happily arrange events in other areas upon request. We seek to offer the complete training experience, using the best training talent from New Zealand and overseas.

We base our workshops at the best available venues and support them with a fantastic range of additional services including seminar notes, mouth-watering catering, convenient parking, civilised finish times, and much much more.  At all of our events we also offer a comprehensive bookshop relating to all our current topics. We search the world to find the most up to date and relevant resources and literature (see our Books and Resources). For your convenience we offer EFTPOS, Credit Card and invoicing options at all of our events.

Craig McKenzie, Manager

Craig is the Manager of Compass Seminars. Originally from a background in Child and Adolescent social work, Craig now oversees the general operations of Compass and his key areas of responsibility are trainer recruitment and relationship management, event hosting, and the development of new business.

Craig always prefers talking (about anything) to working so you can be sure he will be up for a chat if you call the office.

He is famous (in his own mind) for his own unique rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody - not that this talent is always appreciated by others in the Compass office.

Craig can be reached at craig@compass.ac.nz

Cassie Billing, Event Planning

Cassie joined the Compass team in 2023 and looks after the organisational logistics and planning to do with the delivery of our seminar programme.

She has an extensive background in coordinating a wide range of events (and is also her family's 'go to' organiser for birthdays, Christmas, and holidays).

In her spare time, Cassie enjoys getting creative, particularly in relation to cooking new food. She hosts a 'stonking' dinner party which everyone enjoys (at least until its time to do the dishes)

Cassie can be reached on admin@compass.ac.nz

Rosalind McKenzie, Operations

Ros is one of the founders of Compass Seminars and manages all of the financial aspects of the company (amongst many other things).

She has a background as an Adolescent Clinician, which means Ros plays a significant role in finalising the composition of our seminar programme every year to ensure it lines up with current best practice.

Ros is currently working on updating the houmourous but flippant script that normally occupies this part of our staff profiles, so watch this space (good things take time you know).

Ros can be reached at ros@compass.ac.nz

Casey Adlam, Events Administrator

Casey is our 'details focused' administrator. She joined the Compass team in early 2023 and if you call or email the office she is most likely who you will be talking to.

Casey loves to travel and enjoys the adventure of immersing herself in new cultures. In her spare time you will probably find her at the beach with her family (which includes Dexter the Dashund).

She has an number of guilty pleasures,  which include Lindt chocolate, Poutine (chips, cheese and gravy), or a good bottle of bubbles (although not normally all at once).

Casey can be contacted by emailing office@compass.ac.nz
